10 Questions w/ Apex
1. How would you describe your two new songs "On The Rise" and "Be A Star"?
On the Rise, is a song about me coming up independently in the music industry. I have done a lot of things back in the day to get to certain pints in my life ranging from doing shows here in North Carolina, New York, Japan and etc. So on the rise to me means that, I have no time for games nor lames. Just only time to make it to the next level.
As for Be a Star, is a song for my mother. She always told me when I younger that I would be a star. So that is what I reach for the stars, in what ever I do. I hustle hard for what I got and I thank my mother for that, she always told me that you have to win everything you compete at as longs you do your best. Because people will see the inner you.
2. How'd you hook up with European producer/beat maker L. Diamondz for the tracks?
I hooked up with L. Diamondz during a conversation with CJ Beatz (another european producer which produced tracks for my up coming album DRD The Crack Edition). I was telling CJ Beatz about my upcoming album and was stating to him that I was trying to get a new sound for it. So CJ Beatz told me about a up coming producer over in Germany so I hit him up on MSN messenger. After that the rest was history. He told me make it hot so that's what I did. He makes them and I spit the lyrics out as needed.
3. You also make beats yourself, how would you describe your sound?
My sounds of beats ranges from any instrument that I can use. Yeah I make a lot of beats, but I don't use a lot of them. So most of my beats are just sitting around. As for my actual sound, If you ever hear one of my beats you would know it. The drums are sick ranging from 8 to 10 different drum patterns with about 3 unique drops. I can't help it I am a drum man, but I also make crazy strings.
4. What equipment do you have in your studio?
My studio consists of a Eurorack MX 1604A (Behringer Mixer), Trigger Finger (M-Audio Drum Pad), Mini MON (Behringer Monitor Matris Mixer), 2 condenser mics (MXL 990), one in each booth, Tranzport (Frontier), 2 LCD monitors for mixing/mastering, Truth B2030P (Behringer Monitors), Panasonic SX KC600 (Keyboard) which I don't use. I carry little equipment, but use a lot of software. Software is a different story...

The Blast Spotlight: De La Ghetto
De La Ghetto gained his popularity when he first released his theme “Pégate” along with his former partner Arcángel in the album "Sangre Nueva" opening his doors to participate in other productions such as: “Sangre Nueva Special Edition”, Zion & Lennox “Motivando a la Yal: Special Edition”, “Las Gárgolas 5: The Next Generation”, “Los Rompediscotecas”, Luny Tunes “Los Benjamis”, DJ Nelson “Flow la Discoteka 2”, Zion “The Perfect Melody”, DJ Rafy Mercenario “The King of Remix”, Jowell & Randy “Casa de Leones”, Yaga & Mackie “La Reunión”, “Los Capo”, and “Los Sicarios”. The Blast Spotlight: Dem Carolina Boiz
Dem Carolina Boiz Bio
What happens when you take two premiere players from two cities with a sworn hatred for one another and take them out of their element? What happens when you put them in an unfamiliar environment and force them to depend on one another? What do you think would happen if you put them in a studio together? I tell you what you get- Dem Carolina Boiz!!! Vincent Neclos (AKA Big V) and Troyce Sanders (AKA Bingo da Doughboi) are two flame spittin tyrants with plans on not only dominating the south, but the whole rap game! Big V brings a peanut butter molasses flow with punch-lines that promise to leave loose teeth while Bingo gives off that Crunk/buck energy that will set fire to a track as if it was hit with a Molotov cocktail. “Our styles just fit,” says Big V while Bingo boasts that “We are the perfect definition of the Carolina’s: Crazy, Country, and Crunk; deal wit it!” Packing a mean Southern drawl that was cultivated in the bricks and pavement of Southeast D.C. and Hendersonville, N.C., Big V’s flow is the perfect chaser to Bingo’s methodical Crunk, home grown in the mountains of Asheville, N.C. With their monster tracks “Start a Riot,” “Whut You Gonna Do,” and “Say it to My Face” making noise on national mixtapes, their (adopted) home town anthem “Fuck Wit Us” ft Boobe (Oy Boyz)” and “4,5,6” (WPGC 95.5’s DJ Funk Regulator Cee-Lo’s official theme song),and the ladies as far away as Florida riding out to “Shawty Badd” and “Shrimp n Gritz,” these two are ready to step up to the plate and put up Barry Bonds numbers! Backed by 8trix Productions (Producer for Jody Breeze, Freeway, Outlawz, Diplomats, Paul Wall, Oy Boyz, and Devin the Dude, among others) and with so many southern prospects being drafted by labels, Dem Carolina Boiz are looking to be a first round pick come signing day due to their ability to mix Southern Crunk with the witty lyricism of their Northern brethren. “We can get you buck, but still hit you wit lyrical shit too. We like a more lyrical Triple Six [Mafia] or sumthin; we just put that Carolina spin on it,” Big V boasts of the combination of himself and Bingo. “Hell, we still an untapped market,” adds Bingo of what the Carolinas have to add to the rap game. So, if there ever was a weakness in Southern hip-hop, Dem Carolina Boiz are poised to stitch it up, one riot at a time! Look out for their 1st mix-tape 828 Pt.1: Land of the Lost Souls (hosted by the Aphilliates own Nickolas Kage!), the smash follow up 828 pt. 2: Carolina Ridin (Hosted by 456’s/ WPGC/XM Radio/ATL DJ Ceelo as well as the debut album Moonshine & BBQ to be on shelves soon after!

The Blast Spotlight: Sadat X
THE FACTS ON SADAT
Sadat X (born Derek Murphy) is an American rapper, most famed as a member of Alternative hip hop group Brand Nubian. Originally known as Derek X, Sadat takes his name from former Egyptian president Anwar Sadat. The X is taken from the Nation of Islam practice of members changing their surnames simply to X. He is well known for his unique, high-pitched voice, as well as his Pro-Black, and at times controversial, lyrical content.
Sadat X debuted with Brand Nubian in 1989, with the release of their debut single "Brand Nubian" b/w "Feels So Good". The group's debut album, One For All, was released in late 1990, featuring the singles "All For One", "Wake Up" and "Slow Down". The album was widely acclaimed, inspired by the teachings of the Nation of Islam, similar to many groups of the era, including X-Clan, Public Enemy and Poor Righteous Teachers. One For All is now considered a classic hip hop album, and was awarded a 5 Mic rating from popular magazine The Source. Brand Nubian returned in 1993 with the album In God We Trust, which featured the hit single "Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down". Sadat received a bit of controversy following the song's release, due to alleged homophobic content. Following the mixed reviews from the group's third album, 1994's Everything is Everything, Brand Nubian split up to pursue solo endeavors. In 1996, Sadat released his first solo effort, Wild Cowboys. The album featured production from O.Gee Pete Rock, Da Beatminerz, Diamond D, Showbiz and Buckwild, as well as a pair of hit singles, "Hang 'Em High" and "The Lump Lump", the former charting on the Billboard Hot 100. Sadat reunited with original Brand Nubian members Grand Puba, Lord Jamar and DJ Alamo for a reunion album, Foundation, released in late 1998. The album was well-received, and featured the crossover hit "Don't Let it Go to Your Head". After the album, Brand Nubian broke up once again for solo endeavors. In 1999, Sadat made possibly his most famous guest appearance with Common, dropping a verse on the single "1-9-9-9", from the Rawkus Records compilation Soundbombing 2. Sadat released an EP in 2000, titled The State of New York vs. Derek Murphy, which featured the single "Ka-Ching". Brand Nubian reunited once again in 2004, for the release of the album Fire in the Hole. The album was seen as a disappointment, and the group split again for solo albums. Sadat released his second full length album, Experience & Education, in 2005, featuring production from Diamond D, DJ Spinna and Minnesota. On December 22, 2005, Sadat was arrested in Harlem and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.[1] On October 3, 2006, Female Fun Music released Sadat's third full-length album Black October.
Sadat is involved in teaching children. Has worked as an elementary school teacher in New Rochelle, New York. Qualified as a firefighter in New Rochelle, New York. Coaches children's basketball for the New York City Basketball League. He also played point guard for the Howard University basketball team.

The Blast interview with THIRD of THE RAT PACK
THE BLAST: How did you all come together?
Third: I knew Rif back in high school. I was the new kid and I ran with him and his people. I was battling and doing songs but he wasn't into rhyming like that. His brother was a DJ so he always loved the art of hip hop. I met Kwest at college. We got in some sessions and I was cool with him 'cause he had this flow and was a lyrical cat. You know sometimes that's hard to find. Kwest knew Lyriks I really don't know how but I hooked Rif and Kwest up last year. Rif hit me up wanting to do some music so I linked him up with Kwest. Kwest was feeling the way Rif was spitting. Not too long after that Kwest trying to get Rif to do a project but Rif wasn't interested in a solo at the time. That went on for a minute then the Rat Pack idea came up. Rif and Kwest told me about it and I was down and then Kwest was talking about Lyriks and he had a love for the art like us and we just went in. We did the mixtape just for the love of hip hop and to bring some balance to what's out now.
Third: I don't plan on a solo project, but I didn't plan on rhyming on the Rat Pack album either. I was just supposed to mix and do beats. I just did a solo song but you will have to check the Rat Pack page to see if it leaks.
