Blast Artist Spotlight: Seymour Banks (Exclusive Interview)
The Blast Blog sits down and has a one on one, in-depth interview with the rising recording artist known as Seymour Banks! In this interview Seymour talks about his current single "Bugatti Dreamin'", dream collabos, Jhene' Aiko, future projects and more!
Read all about what he has to say in this interview.
The Blast Blog: How are you Seymour Banks?
Seymour Banks: I am blessed. I'm alive with a positive mindset. I can never complain.
The Blast Blog: You have a new single out called "Bugatti Dreamin'" could you tell the viewers a little bit about that single?
Seymour Banks: You have to hear it. It's only a preview of the work I have coming and the diversity of my lyrical content. Overall I want to become a very successful man by making music essential to the souls of humanity... Well, this is a trap version of that haha.
The Blast Blog: Who did you work with for the single?
Seymour Banks: A young man who goes by CR-Me produced and my big bro Ian Patrick Hill (What IPH Studios) from Pittsburgh was the engineer who recorded it.
The Blast Blog: Are you working on any other projects right now?
Seymour Banks: Yes I have 4-5 full length projects I'm working on. My debut project, "Love Passion Rock & Roll" will be here the soonest followed by a lot of singles and a couple collaborative mixtapes.
The Blast Blog: You've collaborated with many indie and up and coming artists, who are some of those artists?
Seymour Banks: Man too many too name them all. I'm waiting for some beats from an artist who goes by Ant Bailey to do some work with as one example. Can't forget my bro J. Paul from South Carolina I'm doing a tape with and two more artists and good friends of mine Mike Quinlan (Miq Cheq) and Shul Z who both sent me some fire music in the past week. Oh and the plug himself OJ Tiago and the homie Hyrbid and I have a dope jam called "Long Way" coming soon.
The Blast Blog: Who would you like to collaborate in the future?
Seymour Banks: I'd like to work with Drake on some stuff for the ladies of course... No one is doing it better than him right now haha. Of course Kendrick Lamar on a little more complex work.. I really want to be a light to the youth, I could see he and I going off with some crazy lyrics, metaphors, and punch lines all spreading knowledge to our youth and encouraging them to be better versions of themselves daily. Also, Jhene' Aiko. I love her openness and creativity along with her voice. I swear I've watched the "Comfort Inn Ending" video over 100 times just to hear her voice. I'd proper have to hire someone to wipe the drool from off my lip because that woman is beautiful too haha.
The Blast Blog: Speaking of the future, what are your plans for the rest of the spring?
Seymour Banks: My goal is to complete all these projects and get out to different cities and let the people see me. I'll be hitting the streets soon selling my music and meeting new fans... It's really important to me that my fans and supporters know I love and support them as well. So I want to get out shake hands and show them the real me.
The Blast Blog: Do you have any shows or upcoming appearances lined up?
Seymour Banks: I'll be in Memphis May 14th for my bro K Fox's King Of The Mic Soundstage and the following month of June I will be out in Dallas... I have more events Ill be showing my face at too. Follow me on IG for updates @Seymour_Banks... You never know, I might pop up in a new city and hit there open mics even just to introduce myself after a show or something haha. Again, I just want to get out and be where the people who support me can find me.
The Blast Blog: Is there anything you would like to mention in this interview that you would like to cover?
Seymour Banks: If you haven't already, follow me on my social media and stay tuned for a lot of hot new music coming soon.

day (laughs).

self-titled album Az Iz as well as my mixtape which is currently titled 2 Weeks Notice. I also am planning a campaign to conquer the West Coast stay
tuned for that.
The Blast Blog: This interview will be more to push your appearance on The Giant Blast Mobile App., so lets talk about apps. what types of apps do you use on your devices?
Az-Iz: I use ANY app that makes life and
work easier (laughs). So I think, pretty much every app I can fit on my phone is on
there (laughs).
The Blast Blog: What are your favorite apps?
Az-Iz: Of course I utilize the Facebook,
Instagram, and Twitter apps heavily for personal promotion, but I also use
several other apps such as “Live 365 Radio” app to listen to the Realistik

and I GOT TO stay on top of the games no matter where I am at.

The Blast Blog: If you could put the readers onto new and different apps what would you
recommend?
Az-Iz: I’m really not that knowledgeable
on technology, I am kinda “old school” (laughs). I do use the “B-Rhymes” app when I
am in the lab and I also use Spotify, and if you like a variety in your music,
I would definitely recommend the “iHeart Radio” app as well.
The Blast Blog: Getting back to the music, what artists in the game are you checking for right now?
Az-Iz: Mainly myself and my bro, General
Grown. Outside of that, my FAVORITE artists to listen to are Keyz 2 ThaGame,
Troy Ave, Hopsin, The Original Playboi, IXE in Jersey and T.I., but there are
a LOT of artists out there right now doing the damn thing, they just aren’t
getting noticed. The music business has become sooooo watered down and people
tend to follow trends, which makes it hard for new, original artists to get
heard, but know this, we WILL be heard … #snowdat
The Blast Blog: Where did the term "Snowdat" come from?
Az-Iz: I picked it up from my people in
Jersey. It is slang for “Just Know That” it’s a pretty popular phrase, I
basically just took it on as a sort of social media signature if you will (laughs).
The Blast Blog: Is there anything else you would like to mention in this interview? Any links you would like to plug?

Interview with Michael Bentley of Spin Doctor PR Firm
The Blast Blog recently set down with a Michael Bentley of Spin Doctor PR LLC for an in depth interview, to talk about the services his company offers to artists and labels, hooking up with handling marketing for FIFA as well as other topics concerning the music industry.
The Blast Blog: You have a bachelors degree in Entertainment Business and you have been apart of the industry for over 10 years, what inspired you to choose this field as a career?
Michael Bently of Spin Doctor PR LLC: I grew up in the entertainment business. My mother sang briefly and later took on a management role of a club. I have met people such as John Gotti, Frank Sinatra, Miami artists like Luke, at a young age. We traveled a lot, and I just grew up wanted to work for the major labels. The big wigs as I call them now, but as I worked "inside", I saw what it was about, so I started my own company to help Indie artists, artists with talent.
Your Spin Doctor PR Firm specializes in online marketing and publicity for artists, and bands... does your company offer any offline, or physical street team services as well?
As of right now only our FM and College Music, but hand to hand flyers, no.
What are some of the major labels that your company has worked for?
Every major label in some sort of way or fashion.
What are some of the smaller, or independent record companies that your company has worked for?
Too many to name.
Has your company ever helped an unsigned artist get signed, if so...who?
Yes, but sometimes those people don't want to get us out there like that, cause they have a team of people, but if you know a rapper who has a Gun that might be a machine and rhymes with Belly, then you might know a few of the people we mess with. Also if you can figure out that riddle, you might be able to see what label connections we have.
How did your company end up working with FIFA?
They contacted me for some grassroots things here in the states. I don't even like Soccer. Well it isn't bad, but I did watch it for 9 days and saw only one goal. It was such a success that they rehired us, which was a big deal for us!
Has there ever been a client or an account that your company had to turn down? If so, why?
Everyday we turn down musicians. If the music isn't up to par, not mixed (although we offer that service through a client), then yes we turn people down. Some of these "musicians" need to keep their day jobs. Also the models we get. WOW, not everybody should be a model.
In your opinion which is worse... an untalented artist or horrible band that actually has the budget and wants to use the Spin Doctor service or a very talented (yet hard headed and stubborn) artist or band that feels that they don't need any promotion and their talent alone (and the mp3s on their myspace page) is all they need to one day be successful? Which is the worst?
That is a really good question. The real artistic musicians, the best, they are usually just great at music, not promotions. That is why labels, people, bands, hire us in the first place, cause they understand, hey I play the guitar better than anybody, but maybe I am not the best at promoting/marketing. As for the sh***y artist, if they have money, sadly, they can go somewhere. As we don't take every artist, if an artist has money, then usually it is money that they have saved up, not family money like Tom Hanks Son, but that means that they believe they can do it, they just don't know how. So we can help with that, get them studio musicians to help, singing lessons, ghost writers, etc. It is a world where the kids want to be Kim Kardashian, sadly, so a ton of people want to be famous for NO F**KING REASON. So we deal with that everyday.
In your opinion what is one of the most common mistakes you see artists make, and what should they do differently?
their van of their mix tape. That baffles me every time. There is a list of things way to long to list here.
Is there any last minute things you would like to plug, or any additional information you would like to give about The Spin Doctor PR Firm?
If you are about your business, and feel like you are ready to make a national campaign, contact us, we are looking for artists to help. We want to help the talent. Look at our plans on our page, but if you are really good, throw those out the window!
