DJ Colossal's iPod Pick: Mono Bagends "You Drive Me Crazy"

This week's iPod pick is on Mono Bagends' new single "You Drive Me Crazy" the follow up to last years BLAST HIT "On Fire".  "You Drive Me Crazy" is a certified dance floor hit track, produced by West Coast composer D-Animal, and features guest vocals from singer Mela Bela for the song's chorus.  On this song Mono Bagends talks about how it can get being in a relationship with someone and sometimes the other person will start to..... "Drive You Crazy".  Mono Bagends' vocals match perfectly with this dance floor banger, and the hook is very catchy and will stick in your mind while having you chant the words"Every time you come around girl you just want to DRIVE ME CRAZY" right along with the vocals.

I surely recommend this for your iPods and strongly recommend other DJs to put this record on to get everyone moving on the dance floor!

DJ Colossal's I-Pod Pick: Mono Bagends "On Fire"

DJ Colossal here, and this week's I-Pod pick is on Mono Bagend's video for his single "On Fire"!  The song is an energetic track that the artist himself describes as a song depicting a man conquering his inner struggles to fulfill his destiny.  The track has a real synthesized space aged, pop type of vibe to it and the hook is real strong and sticks with you.  I recomend every give this track a listen, and I'm assuming most of you already have sense the video has reached over 40,000 views lately, but if you haven't you can check out the song at the embedded link below.

This week's I-Pod pick is dedicated to D.I.V.'s new music video "Wake & Bake" produced by Jay Chef and the video was directed by Dic Willie.  This is definitely one of the best videos I've happened to see this summer.  D.I.V. starts the video off by rolling an L and driving while talking to the viewers and it kicks into the song with D.I. spitting hot rhymes of a slick soul sampled track.  Check it out for yourself below.....

DJ Colossal's I-Pod Pick: Ike Ellis "Loving You"

This week's I-Pod pick goes to Ike Ellis for his new single "Loving You", the lead single from his upcoming album Cornbread. The song has Ike Ellis spitting his love for the music over a sped up soul track that samples the classic "If Loving You Is Wrong I Don't Want To Be Right". This is more for more than just the I-Pod, but something you can pump in your ride. After hearing this single I sure can't wait to hear more from the man they call "The King of the Carolinas".

Past Blast featured artist Signs a Deal

Just recently beatmaker/producer and songwriter Mel (AKA Lova J.) signed to digital distribution company and independent record label T.P.O.F. Records as an in house producer, with the opportunity to release projects under his R&B singer alias Lova J. as well!  The Giant Blast would like to salute Mel and congratulate on his success and recognize him for all of his hard work.  In 2011, Mel released a single as Lova J. called "If I Only Had One Wish" and used our e-mail blast and promotional service to get the word out, and the single was well received, various DJs that are members of our digital record pool supported the single (such as DJ Colossal), and while Lova J. was unsigned the song was even getting spins on commercial radio stations such as the popular urban station in his home base area South Carolina's WHXT Hot 103.9 FM.

Mel talks about the events that lead up to him getting a deal in a series of audio interviews with The Carolina Inquirer.  You can listen to everything he has to say below.

DJ Colossal's I-Pod Pick: Lova J. "If I Only Had One Wish"

This week's I-Pod pick is on South Carolina soul singer Lova J's single "If I Only Had One Wish".  This song is about a crush a man has on a particular woman that he wants to be with so badly, but she is with someone else.  So the vocalist wishes that he could be with her instead.  The song conveys this message smoothly without the artist coming off as some love sick stalker or emotionally deprived love beggar.  What really makes this song so great in my opinion is that the track has a real "old school" early to mid 90s R&B vibe to it, and that's good to hear when most of the R&B songs coming out today have a real heavy synthetic, robotic futuristic Euro pop sound to it.  The guest rapper by the name of G.P. really adds flavor to the beginning of the song and does a great job opening the song up for Lova J.  This is a nice song to sit back, relax and chill to while listening.

Celsius911 talks about the 11/11/11 (Nov. 11th 2011) mixtape

Celsius911 has a new mixtape coming out titled 11/11/11 set to released on the 11th day of the 11th month of this year (2011).  The Giant Blast recently got a hold of the artist to discuss this latest project in this quick one on one interview.  Here is what Celsius911 had to say.

The Giant Blast:  What can listeners expect to hear on the 11/11/11 mix tape?
Celsius911:  They can expect to hear new music from me exploring all subjects that everybody facing right now. Things that everybody goes through and deals with.  Partying, political, economic, sex.  Its gonna be a lil bit of everything on there.  Expect it to be 1 of a kind just like the date 11/11/11.

What inspired you to do this project?
Ive always felt a strong connection to the time 11:11.  I've always been drawn to the significance of that number on a spiritual level so it would only seem right to release a free project to the people on the date 11/11/11.  Its the only time we'll see that date in our lifetime so it only makes sense to release records that I care about, made for people that i care about on that date.

Who did you work with for this project?
I got a few records on there with producer Zukhits.  Also did a few joints over some popular instrumentals.  As for artists; I got Bryce from Spit Hot Fire on there, got a female artist by the name of Moanz on there and a few other talented artists that I enjoy working with.

What plans do you have after the 11/11/11 mixtape?

Definitely got the mix tape Diary 1.5 coming out late Dec. early Jan. A lot of shows, videos and interviews. Also more mix tapes. On the grind heavy.

You have been getting lots of praise from DJs such as DJ Colossal and others recently how do you feel about that?
I'm happy about that and really appreciate it.  It's good that the hard work is paying off and being appreciated.  I just wanna continue to work hard and keep making music that people like.

What are your plans for 2012?
Mix tapes, shows, videos, big records, surprise collabos and hopefully another album by the end of 2012.  Not slowing down.

DJ Colossal's I-Pod Pick: Celsius911's Entire Youtube Channel

This I-Pod Pick segment was a little harder to write... you know when you go to a restaurant, see the menu and there is just so much great stuff for you to pick from but and it takes you a long time to decide what you are going to eat?  This is exactly how I felt picking an I-Pod pick from the latest featured artist in The Giant Blast's digital record pool by the name of Celsius911.  My first impression of this artist was that he was "just some mix tape dude", and I was ready to write him off as just another scatter brained lyricist pushing a bunch of random songs, but after listening to the music posted on his official youtube page (http://www.youtube.com/celsius91108) I certainly had to take it back.  Celsius911 is a gifted songwriter, and artist that certainly knows how to put together a strong record that can reach audiences beyond "mixtapes".  So for this Week's I-Pod pick I choose everything on Celsius911's Youtube station [currently].  Listen to the embedded links yourself and you be the judge of what is worthy enough for your I-Pod.

DJ Colossal's I-Pod Pick: Mr. Boom Boom Bang "Fa Sure" (Video & Song)

I have to admit I didn't jump on this single on the first listen, not because I felt that the song was wack or anything like that though.  The song just didn't stand out or hit me at first.... but after playing the video back a few times it really began to stick with me.  I even found myself singing the "beat it 'till it's wet" part of the hook in the same style that Mr. Boom Boom Bang does throughout my day.  I will surely spin the record to get the crowd's reaction to it and if they warm up to it the same way that I eventually did I have no problem getting behind this single.  Even if it takes someone awhile to warm up to the actual song, I can't front the beat does give off some "heat".  Check out the song and video below.

DJ Colossal's I-Pod Pick: Mora "Let Em Know" (Song and Video)

This week's I-Pod pick is on the hot new single and video from Atlanta based recording artist Mora titled "Let Em Know".  This song is about the aftermath of a breakup with his girlfriend.  Listen and feel Mora as he puts his emotion into this track.  The video was directed by Theshay West, and West sure does a phenomenal job giving the viewers a great visual interpretation of this wonderful composition.  You can watch the video below, and feel free to post your comments on this song.
